Things I still do...

It's funny how it took a long time for me to realise that the foundation of my writing hobby which led to life in the media was laid in FGCO with the Press Club - "Do you know that..." column, news reading on the assembly etc.

While a lot has changed there are things I still do from way back like I just can't get my glasses to stay on the upper part of my British nose! Still query the intentions of 'mute' guys that come my way (need a consultant to figure that out), still have the urge to pick up trash (crazy! but I go ahead and do it especially when no one is watching in the school loo) - no thanks to being health captain, still try to figure out song notes as if the choir master will require it of me...

What are those silly habits and great talents that lingers as you move on...

OK guys this thread is personal. The one thing that got to me in FEGO was how everyone was always wearing Baggies and Gabadine.

During the school holidays I used to ask my dad for money to go and sew clothes at the taylors but my dad would say 'dont worry we will talk later..' then a few weeks later he would bring a bag of new clothes fresh from the taylors... all tight shirts and straight tight trousers.

I would say thank you as the one time I grumbled I got seriously blasted (something along the lines of 'ungrateful wretch').

Then school would begin..not only was I a slacker beyond my time, my trousers were straight, I did not have the Gabadines..but the worst crime of all..I did not even having pegs on my trousers. I point th efinger at all of you..as all of you dissed me on the regular about my clothes and my refugee looks.

Do you know that today all I wear are baggy trousers and I have been hitting the gym for about 15years now. Initially it was this disses that drove me to want to be a 'heavy guy'...I got over the disses eventually..but I cant stop wearing baggy clothes.

I have one!!!

Remember scrambling for water early in the mornings?

Remember coming up with clever ways to make that bucket of water accomplish the most good?

I remember how many of us devised the pattern of brushing our teeth before bathing, for fear of running out of water at the end of your bath.

Well now I have a problem bathing before brushing and cannot understand why anyone would shower/bath before brushing their teeth. And to compound my "nut-case" xtics, I have to shower after every brush.

Yeah, I know, I need help.

No, my son funny enough does. It must be genetic. He is 5 and he is trying to indoctrinate his little sister who is 2 into it. O boy your memory is fresh. Per the ogbo symphony, that is a classic. I actually spoke to him 2 months ago.

1) I was first and foremost a bookworm. And by that, I don't mean a swort. I study mainly whatever is not in the syllabus. There were whole terms when I spent more time at the library than in class. Now I spend more time on the internet than at work :-).

2) When I sat beside Seun Baptist in JS3 (I think), I used to copy his sketches of macho guys, model shaped babes and the likes. But what I like best was his drawing of whole cities... I still sketch but I hide 'em cause my sketches are ugly.

3) Yes, I still find myself counting 1,2,3 when talking...

I found that when one of my ex's used to ask me to do stuff at home..i used to get aggressive saying i'd do it in my own time it was later i realised this was my way of rebelling as I swore that when I left FEGO ..no one would ever order me about or tell me what to do. God that place was hell on earth!

Aba Obi! It wasn't that bad except there are stuff you ain't talking about.

Be it to do stuff or out of a relationship you still kind of responded to an order! Now that you have linked the exit of your ex to Odogbolu, can you humbly find the route back?

That route is long narrow full of pot holes and road blocks....

Another thing I still do and ~God knows why....just a FEGO habit I guess...whenever I post a card I always put th ecard in th eenvelope so that when it is opened the recipient sees the back of it first. I definetely have this from FEGO... I have tried to stop it on several occasions but somehow it does not feel right. At least I dont write ditto anymore
