Ibironke Sholarin Ojajuni

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

It is with a heavy heart that I post this.

Yes it is our own dear Ibironke Sholarin-Ojajuni. Muyiwa Olayiwola, who saw her last in April, confirmed that Ibironke worked at Diamond Bank and was on her way home two days ago when she met her death.

It is sad that it took her death for me to locate her. She was one of those we listed as "yet to link up". I didn't even know her married name, yet she made up the quorum of the 6 girls in Violet, a class we shared for 3 years! This makes it sadder for me; we could have been a source of encouragement through the years to one another, I could have been sharing not what I knew of her years back but fun moments from attending reunions, weddings or visiting each other...

Need I reiterate that life is short? As we celebrate her life and mourn her loss, let's remember that to truly have lived you must have touched lives otherwise death becomes the unfruitful end of a soul that was graciously given.

It's not how she died that matters... she lived and graciously too. Let's celebrate her life. I'd link up with those who were closer to her to get contact details of her family and information about the burial so that those in Lagos-Nigeria can pay condolence visit and attend the burial on our behalf.

I'm proposing that we have a candle lit lunch or moment in honour of those that have transited - Jide Olatoye (RIP), Jide Osoba (RIP), Taiwo Onanuga (RIP), Bamidele Subulokun (RIP), Ibironke Sholarin-Ojajuni (RIP), if we are to go on with the reunion plans for the 11th of July, 2009.

From what I remember from FGCO and when we met at Obalende and chatted like long lost sisters; the world has lost a gem!

Folks are in shock! The shortness of life hits us when we lose our very own. We are trusting that it will be a very long time before we have to add another name to the list of deceased peers.

Your mail came to me as a rude shock. I can only remember Ronke as a lively and dear friend. Pray God gives the family the fortitude to bear the monumental loss. My wishes to her two brothers who were with us in FEGO and to her family. C. Okonta

The news of Ibironke's death came to me this morning. I had sent her an email that bounced back; phone calls didn’t go thru; and then her colleague had to confirm her demise and it left my mouth agape for several minutes.

It brings again 2 fore the issue of insecurity in some of our cities.

Ibironke was my banker and friend. Farewell our dear Ibironke!
